“I cannot explain what is happening. I can only say that I feel better.”
Less than a year after experiencing a serious industrial accident involving contact with nitric acid, I received bad news once again. At the end of 2022, following an examination, a malignant abnormality was diagnosed in my testicle. Surgery followed shortly thereafter.
Medical uncertainty and the decision-making process
Additional examinations subsequently revealed that several lymph nodes were enlarged and certain blood values were elevated. Preventive chemotherapy was discussed with me as a treatment option. That moment felt overwhelming to me. I had seen what chemotherapy could do to people in my immediate environment and did not want to make a rushed decision. In consultation with my oncologist, I ultimately chose a trajectory of intensive monitoring, involving regular scans and blood tests.
I heard about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus through someone in my network. I only knew energetic therapy by name and went there without any expectations. I am naturally quite down-to-earth and primarily wanted to maintain control over the choices I made. For me, Leonardus was never intended as a replacement for regular medical care, but as a possible supplement to it.
Positivity and returning to the theater world
During the treatments, I did not immediately feel anything unusual. For me, that was not what it was about. What I did notice, however, was how I felt afterward. It was as if I had taken a nap, but at the same time, I felt that my body was working on something. It is difficult to explain, but it was an experience that continued to repeat itself.
I noticed the greatest change not just physically, but primarily mentally. After a period of illness, uncertainty, and recovery from my industrial accident, I felt my energy and positivity slowly returning. I felt the desire to pick things up again and look forward.
That also brought me back to an old passion. Before I became ill, I worked for years in the theater and festival world. During one of the first conversations at Leonardus, music was mentioned. That set something in motion. I began to think about what used to give me energy and discovered how much I wanted to do something with music and theater again. I am now working in the theater world again through a reintegration program.
Lifestyle changes and restoring balance
Because of everything I have been through, I have also started to look at health differently. For me, recovery is not just about medical treatments. I have stopped smoking, drink less coffee, pay better attention to my rest, and make more conscious choices in my daily life. I walk more, make music again, enjoy being outdoors, and love spending time with my daughter.
I believe that recovery consists of multiple components. Medical care forms an important foundation in that process. Additionally, the choices you make yourself influence how you feel. For me, the guidance at Leonardus has been one of the links that helped me find my energy and confidence again.
I cannot explain exactly what caused what. To me, that is not the point. I can only say that I feel better than during the period when everything was coming at me at once.
I would like to share with others that taking good care of yourself is part of recovery. Not only through the treatments you receive, but also by consciously giving attention to your body, your thoughts, and the things that give you energy. For me, it was precisely that combination that made the difference.
