“It feels good. My body relaxes, and so does my mind.”
When I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2010, my life already changed considerably. Yet I did not know then that another difficult period would follow a few years later. At the end of 2011, a tumor was discovered in my right lung. Fortunately, after two operations, the situation seemed to be under control.
Recurrent illness and intensive treatments
Exactly ten years later, that changed again. Another tumor was found, once more in my right lung. It was removed in 2022, but not everything could be cleared. A portion remained in the pleura in a location that could not be operated on. Radiation was not an option due to my pulmonary fibrosis. In consultation with my doctors, chemotherapy was therefore chosen. I wanted to do everything that was still possible. My biggest concern was that the tumor would otherwise continue to grow.
The chemotherapy proved to be grueling. After only the first few rounds, my kidney function declined sharply, forcing the treatment to be discontinued. That was a disappointment. When the options within conventional treatment became more limited, I encountered Energetisch Centrum Leonardus through an acquaintance.
To be honest, I had never considered it before. I was not someone who would quickly opt for complementary therapy. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a chance. In September 2022, I began treatments at Leonardus.
Relaxation and tranquility during treatments
What struck me most in the first few months was how good I felt. From September to January, I had much more energy than before. I walked a lot, played tennis again, and felt physically stronger. Friends around me also noticed that I felt better in myself.
During the treatments, I primarily experience a great sense of peace. My body relaxes and my mind becomes calmer as well. Sometimes I reach such a deep state of relaxation that I almost fall asleep. That feeling of tranquility is difficult to explain, but for me, it is very valuable. Especially when illness, fatigue, and uncertainty define a large part of your life, it is wonderful to go somewhere where you feel seen and can completely unwind.
Setbacks, hospital care, and future plans
At the beginning of 2023, I contracted COVID-19, which was followed by several infections. Since then, my condition has deteriorated again. My energy decreased, and daily activities once again required more effort. I feel that various factors are playing a role in this.
Fortunately, I still feel well-supported by the hospital. I have great appreciation for the commitment of my medical team. For instance, the oncology nurse regularly reaches out on her own initiative to ask how I am doing. That inspires confidence.
For me, Leonardus is not a replacement for conventional care, but a valuable addition to it. The treatments help me experience more peace and give me the feeling that my body can relax for a moment. I hope that the good feeling I experienced earlier will return.
I am currently going through a difficult period. Not only physically, but there are also private concerns within my family that demand a lot of energy. That is precisely why I am again seeking moments of rest and support.
My wish for the future is actually very simple. I hope to get out of this slump, that my children continue to do well, and that I get my life back a little. That I can once again enjoy the things that are important to me.
