In 2019, a tumor was discovered behind my eye. After various treatments, the situation seemed stable for a while, but in October 2022, a residual tumor was identified once again. In the following months, the tumor continued to grow, and eventually, there was a clear expansion toward my brain.
Searching for more humanity in healthcare
In addition to the physical consequences, this period brought a great deal of uncertainty. My partner and I were faced with difficult choices and intensive discussions within the standard care pathway. We sometimes felt the need for more space to discuss our questions and concerns. Especially when you are going through so much, you want to feel that someone is looking along with you and maintaining an overview.
Through a complementary physician, we came into contact with Energetisch Centrum Leonardus. We were open to additional forms of support but had little experience with them. After receiving bad news again regarding the growth of the tumor, I decided to start treatments with Leon alongside the regular radiation therapy.
Experience of tranquility and personal attention
From the first treatment, we experienced something that is difficult to express in words. For me, the treatments primarily brought peace. My partner noticed that after a treatment, I was often clearer, more energetic, and sharper than before. For him, too, it provided confidence that there was a place where attention was paid not only to the illness but also to me as a human being.
What has stayed with us most is the personal attention. We were listened to, there was time, and there was tranquility. That is precisely what made a great difference for us during a period when everything revolved around examinations, treatments, and uncertainty.
Physical sensations, hope, and personal agency
During some treatments, I felt distinct tingling in my feet. To me, it felt as if movement was returning to my body. How exactly that can be explained, I do not know. Nor do I need to. I can only describe what I experienced myself.
In addition to the physical experiences, my partner and I noticed above all that the treatments helped us to remain positive. They gave us more peace and the feeling that we were not just being swept along by the medical reality. That provided mental strength during a period when hope was sometimes under pressure.
For us, Leonardus was never a replacement for regular care. On the contrary. The treatments formed a valuable addition to the medical trajectory I was following. It was precisely the combination of both that gave us the feeling that we were doing everything that suited us at that moment.
The future remains uncertain, and that is something we have learned to live with. Nevertheless, we try not to be led entirely by uncertainty or by somber predictions. We choose to look time and again at what is still possible.
If there is one message we would like to share with others going through a similar journey, it is this: keep holding onto hope. Do not be guided by a single vision alone. Keep asking questions, keep thinking for yourself, and keep searching for what feels right for you. Everyone walks their own path in that regard.
