Can changes experienced by people during a treatment also be observed objectively? This question has been central to Energetisch Centrum Leonardus for years.
Many people describe changes during a treatment, such as increased relaxation, reduced tension, or a different physical experience. But are such changes also measurable?
To investigate this question, a first pilot was conducted on July 11 and 12, during which biophotons were measured during treatments. Biophotons are extremely weak light particles that living cells can emit. Various scientific disciplines are investigating whether changes in this emission can indicate biological processes, although no clear scientific consensus yet exists.

A treatment followed step by step
During the pilot, measurements were taken throughout the entire treatment, as well as before and after the treatment.
Leonardus Therapy follows a fixed sequence of treatment steps. At each step, it was observed how the measured values developed.
For the founder of Leonardus Therapy, Leon Bemelmans, it was a notable observation that “We noticed that the changes did not appear to occur randomly, but became visible during specific steps of the treatment.”
This does not mean that a cause has been proven. However, it provided a reason to further investigate whether this pattern repeats in other treatments.
An additional comparison
To better assess the measurements, a comparison was also made during the pilot.
In addition to an active treatment protocol using Leonardus Therapy, an inactive treatment was also administered. Both protocols follow the same sequence of hand positions and treatment steps.
It was precisely this comparison that made the pilot interesting.
While clear changes in the measured biophotons appeared to be visible during the active treatment by the therapists, the characteristic peaks and troughs observed were much less prominent or barely present during the inactive treatment.
This observation raises an interesting question.
Is the difference due to the execution of the treatments? To other factors not investigated during this pilot? Or is there another explanation? These questions cannot yet be answered based on a single pilot. However, the results indicate that follow-up research appears worthwhile.

Why is this specific comparison important?
In scientific research, it is valuable to look not only at what happens, but also at what does not happen.
By comparing two similar treatment situations, a clear difference in measurement patterns emerged. This does not make the pilot proof, but it does provide an interesting first observation that can guide follow-up research.
With larger research groups and repeated measurements, it can be investigated whether these differences actually continue to occur.
A first step
Within Energetisch Centrum Leonardus, this pilot is therefore seen as a starting point.
Not as confirmation of a theory, but as an invitation to further investigate exactly what happens during a treatment and how such measurements should be interpreted. Because good science often begins with a remarkable observation. Only then does the careful testing of that observation follow.
