Sometimes a treatment center is not born out of a desire to be different, but from the conviction that care can be more comprehensive.
With this third blog in our four-part series about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus, we take the next step: how did Leonardus Therapy grow into a center where personal attention, collaboration, and a broad perspective on health come together?
Born from a vision
After decades of learning, treating, and developing, Leon Bemelmans realized that a single treatment on its own never makes the difference. People need attention, time, and a healthcare provider who looks beyond just the complaint with which someone enters. From that conviction, Energetisch Centrum Leonardus was born.
Not as a practice where only treatment is provided, but as a place where there is room for personal attention, collaboration, and searching for what someone needs to support their quality of life. Read more about where the search began.
The person behind the complaint
Every day, the therapists meet people with their own stories. Some have been living with chronic complaints for years. Others are in the middle of an intensive medical trajectory or seek support during a period of stress, fatigue, or recovery.
Within Energetisch Centrum Leonardus, the focus is therefore not only on the complaint, but primarily on the person living with that complaint. This means listening, taking the time, and looking together at what support may be appropriate.
The power of collaboration
This broad approach received a new impulse when Youri Bemelmans joined Energetisch Centrum Leonardus. Since the age of eighteen, he has been immersing himself in energetic therapy under the guidance of his father, Leon Bemelmans.
Additionally, Youri is a BIG-registered physiotherapist. With this, he brings knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and conventional physiotherapy together with the vision on which Energetisch Centrum Leonardus is built. This allows clients, when appropriate, to utilize both disciplines within a single center.
This collaboration is not a contradiction between conventional and complementary care. On the contrary. By allowing different forms of care to coexist, space is created to look at the person and their request for help from multiple perspectives.
More than treating
Over the years, another conviction also grew. Good care does not stop at the treatment room. Those who truly want to help people must continue to learn, continue to collaborate, and remain open to new insights.
Based on that conviction, Leonardus works with a dedicated research team on scientific research into the functioning and possible effects of energetic therapy. The goal is not to pit conventional or complementary care against each other, but to investigate how both forms of care can better complement each other in the future.
