The greatest ambition of Leonardus is not to treat people differently, but to contribute to better care for the patient of tomorrow.
With this fourth and final blog in our series about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus, we look ahead. How can practical experience, scientific research, and collaboration contribute to the further development of Leonardus and complementary care?

When is a search actually complete?
After more than thirty years of practice, one might think that the Leonardus Therapy is finished. For Leon Bemelmans and Youri Bemelmans, it feels exactly the opposite. In fact, all the experiences from the field have led to new questions.
- Can we better understand what happens during a treatment?
- Can we objectively measure which changes take place?
- How can complementary care be a valuable addition to regular healthcare in the future?
That is the ambition with which Energetisch Centrum Leonardus will continue to build in the coming years.
Practical experience is the beginning, not the end
Every day, Leon and Youri guide people with diverse health complaints. Many clients report that they feel better or experience a higher quality of life during a treatment process. Those experiences are valuable, but in themselves, they do not constitute scientific evidence.
This is precisely why Leonardus chooses to look beyond daily practice. Not to replace experiences, but to investigate them carefully.
Research as a bridge between two worlds
In the coming years, Energetisch Centrum Leonardus is investing in an ambitious research program in which complementary care and regular healthcare come together.
A first study focuses on EEG measurements and biophoton research in people with burnout symptoms. In addition, work is underway on a multi-year multicenter clinical study involving over 180 patients with lung cancer. Parallel to this, work is being done on cell research together with specialized research partners.
We cannot do this alone
Research of this scale requires collaboration. Therefore, Energetisch Centrum Leonardus works together with researchers, universities, hospitals, and specialized research organizations.
Through Stichting De Energiebron and the Leonardus Fund, individuals, companies, funds, and social partners are invited to help build this development.
The future begins today
The story of Energetisch Centrum Leonardus once began with the curiosity of a single therapist. Today, that curiosity has grown into a collective ambition: to develop more knowledge about complementary care, so that in the future, patients can benefit from care that is, where possible, also based on rigorous scientific research.
This was the fourth and final part of our series about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus. From Leon’s initial curiosity and the origins of the Leonardus Therapy to the development of the center and ambitions for the future. The quest with which it all began continues: to keep learning, researching, and working together on the care of tomorrow.
