A method is not created in a single day. Sometimes it is the result of a lifetime of observing, learning, and continuing to ask questions.
With this second blog in our four-part series about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus, we explore the origins of the Leonardus Therapy: how did more than thirty years of experience, training and practical insights develop into a unique treatment method?

Can a single experience change your life?
Sometimes something happens that makes you look at the world differently.
For Leon Bemelmans, it was an experience from his younger years, when he worked among racehorses. A horse that could no longer perform was treated with simple Jin Shin Jyutsu hand techniques. To his surprise, the animal recovered and was able to move freely again.
For many people, that was an extraordinary occurrence. For Leon, the most important question began right there.
Why did this happen?
Not whether it worked, but how. That moment marked the beginning of a quest that would last more than thirty years. Read more about where the quest began.
Not looking for a miracle, but for an explanation
In the following years, Leon immersed himself in various training programs and treatment methods. He studied anatomy, physiology, and the Japanese healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, in which the body is approached as a single cohesive whole. Throughout this, he continued to seek the connection between practical experience and knowledge.
Every training program brought new insights. Every meeting with clients yielded new perspectives. Not everything could be explained immediately, but that was precisely what motivated him to keep learning. A few years ago, he completed additional training in energetic therapy at the E.E.N. Institute. Thus, Leon remains up-to-date with the latest knowledge and theories in the field.
Slowly, his own way of working emerged. Not a copy of an existing method, but a treatment approach built from years of experience, observation, and continuous development.
The Leonardus Therapy
From that quest, Leonardus Therapy eventually emerged.
The premise of this treatment method is that a person is more than a collection of separate complaints. Therefore, the focus is not only on the area where someone experiences pain, but on the person as a whole and the connection between physical, mental, and emotional processes. Jin Shin Jyutsu forms the basis of the treatment, but the person is viewed in their entirety through various techniques.
Leonardus Therapy is therefore not the end point of a quest, but rather the result of decades of continuous learning, adaptation, and development. Read also about the Leonardus Technique.
Curiosity as a core conviction
What never changed in all those years was the curiosity. Leon still sees every treatment as an opportunity to learn. Not just from theory, but especially from the people who enter the practice every day.
That attitude still forms the basis of Energetisch Centrum Leonardus: being open to new insights, continuing to investigate, and never stopping learning.
This was part two of our four-part series about Energetisch Centrum Leonardus. On September 15, the third part will be published: “Why Energetisch Centrum Leonardus Was Founded.”
